【講者介紹】
Kuan-Wen Chen (陳冠文) received the B.S. degree in computer and information science from National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2004 and the Ph.D. degree in computer science and information engineering from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2011. He is currently an associate professor with the Department of Computer Science, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. From 2012 to 2014, he was a post-doctoral researcher with National Taiwan University, where he was an assistant research fellow in the Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center from 2014 to 2015. His research interests include computer vision, visual localization and drone autopilot.
【演講簡介】
Most of existing commercial applications of drone autopilot are mainly relied on GPS and predefined trajectories. However, for some drone applications, the GPS might not be always workable during the whole journey, e.g. last mile drone delivery or drone inspection in GPS-less environments, or the exact destination is not able to be known in advance, e.g. drone exploration or drone rescue. In this talk, I will share some vision-based technologies, such as vision-based localization and saliency prediction, and prototypes for drone autopilot applications. Our approaches are only used the most widely used sensor on drones, i.e. the camera, and computer vision technologies, and are expected to lead to new commercial applications in the future.
